S.T.E.M. Grants, Integrations, Foundation Funding


Lets get on the Wagon. Dollars funded by Foundations, Corporations, Federal Grants, and private individuals to S.T.E.M. Education are gaining momentum. Where is it all going ? Who is getting it? How do we get in on the Action ? We as Technical Educators are the TE in S.T.E.M. Education.

What is STEM?

A STEM education is not just teaching math or biology; it is a way of teaching. Rather than basing instruction on a test, a STEM class focuses on hands-on learning. Students participate in an activity while learning science and other skills.

We have been teaching Hands-On forever. STEM EDUCATION is coming to your school. Technical Educators need to take the lead, and reach out to Science and Math Departments and Adminstration. Let them know you have the projects that will deliver STEM Education. We have started to track the schools and company partners. Please let us know what is happening in your area.

Tech Giants and Public Schools Embrace Vo-Tech

"The question was, what can schools do to connect more directly to jobs?" The answer: Tap IBM and the New York City College of Technology to create a collaboration-oriented curriculum that enables students to graduate in six years with an associate degree in applied science and a spot "at the head of the line" for entry-level IBM tech jobs. To enroll, students need only attend an orientation session.

Joint Commitment to Career Pathways by Three U.S. Departments

The Departments of Education, Health and Human Services, and Labor released a ground-breaking statement to their many stakeholders. The Letter highlighting the Unified Commitment to use career pathways approaches, can be seen by clicking below. This strategy will help adults acquire marketable skills and industry-recognized credentials through alignment of education, training and employment, and human and social services among public agencies and with employers, linking them to labor market trends and employer needs.
