Electrical Engineer

With electric cars in the bright future of the automotive industry, manufacturers are looking for electrical engineers to help create electric motors. They will also be responsible for performing tests and overseeing the making of this machinery. Electrical Engineers will mostly work out of an office and require a bachelors degree. Students who are interested in navigating the electric components in cars will fit perfectly in this position.

Mechanical Engineer

Mechanical engineers develop the mechanical devices for cars. They oversee and install engines in cars and see them through the phase of production. This requires collaboration with team members to design, develop, and test vehicles.  Most employers require a bachelors degree in automotive engineering technology, vehicle design, or a related field. It’s important to have strong problem solving and communication skills in your workplace.

Mechanical Drafter

Drafters provide drawings and provide guidelines, technical details, and assembly procedures for automotive components. They use software to put these designs together. Some colleges offer two year certificates and degrees to qualify for this position. Other qualifications include bachelors degrees in engineering and math. It’s important to have a strong understanding of blueprints, project costs, and calculating materials.

Industrial Engineer

This engineer, one of many, looks at the entire automotive process and comes up with the most efficient, cost-effective process for assembling an automotive mobile. It’s important for someone interested in industrial engineering to have a strong background in math, science, physics, and chemistry. It benefits students to get hands-on experience to better understand the process that industrial engineers go through.

Materials Engineer

Materials engineers focus on the parts that go into a car. They go through different materials to see what will be the most efficient to apply to a specific car part. A bachelors degree is recommended for this job.
