Construction Workforce Education Grant

Western States College of Construction (WSCC) is pleased to announce that it received a $250,000 Daniels Fund grant to support the ‘Mastering the Craft’ project – its workforce education program.

The funds from the grant will support the development of a mentorship certification course, create campus mentorship committees to pair new apprentices with experienced apprentices, and provide scholarships to disadvantaged populations to cover enrollment fees and equipment for on-the-job training.

WSCC is leading the charge in advancing workforce education as the first of its kind institution. WSCC was officially launched in 2020 and accredited as the first professional institution of its kind in the nation by the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) in late 2021. With eight campuses across Colorado and Wyoming, WSCC currently provides students with an opportunity to find a life-long career in the skilled trades. WSCC offers training programs in HVAC-R, pipefitting, plumbing and sheet metal, providing students with the skills and certification to work in the skilled trades. They graduate debt free while learning on the job and earning a salary.

The Daniels Fund Grant

We’re thrilled that we will be able to certify more instructors to teach and mentor our students,” said Mostafa Khattab, President of WSCC. “We’d like to thank the Daniel’s Fund for investing in the future of our workforce.”

The Daniels Fund, established by cable television pioneer Bill Daniels, is a private charitable foundation dedicated to making life better for the people of Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming through its grants program, scholarship program, and ethics initiative.
