Champions for Technical Education Awards

Southern Crescent Technical College recently held its Champions for Technical Education Awards Celebration with Henry County Board of Commissioners Chair Carlotta Harrell and Henry County Development Authority Executive Director Josh Fenn being honored.

The SCTC Foundation hosted the event Sept. 12 in the Frank and Constance Allen Johnson Event Center to recognize champions for technical education in the eight counties that the college serves and beyond the service area.

Each of the champions received an award which was a glass-enclosed dome with a stainless-steel cube designed and made by SCTC machine tool technology students and their instructor, Keith Smith.

The award included designs representing the four pillars that define SCTC’s Champions for Technical Education — workforce, resources, partnerships and education.

“Building strong students, strong careers, and strong communities is all about partnerships, and you are shining examples of partnerships,” SCTC President Dr. Irvin Clark said. “The college would not be as successful without your steadfast support, so tonight is all about honoring you and your commitment to the college, the foundation, and most importantly, our students.”
