“A push towards increased knowledge in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics has been heightened due to global competition. Our goal is to increase STEM kowledge base for students and develop their ability to innovate in STEM areas, as these skills are essential to future economic development in the territory……to promote, lead, and educated a future generation of 21st century learners, including traditionally under-represented populations such as women, minorities and students with disabilities, as STEM industries demand a highly-educated and skilled workforce” (Government of the Virgin Islands Department of Education, 2014).
